Amala is a celebrated herb that is used in Ayurveda and also as an ingredient in tarty fruit treats. Amala's traditional uses include as a laxative, eye wash, appetite stimulant, restorative tonic, and to treat anorexia, indigestion, diarrhea, anemia, and jaundice. Amla is well known for its unusually high levels of Vitamin C. It is one third of the constituent of the famous Trifala Churna Ayurvedic preparation for stomach ailments.
