Nepal
Nepal is a landocked country in Asia. Present day Nepal extends from Mechi river in the East to Mahakali river in the West. It has a little over 5000 Himalaya feed rivers in total. It comprises of the Himalayas from Mechi to Mahakali on the North and the Terai plains in the south with the Hills in between the two. Nepal is second to Brazil in fresh water availability. Nepal is surrounded by India in the East, West, and South and China (Tibet) in the North.
Nepal, a kingdom existing for at least 1500 years, is situated between India and China (Tibet) and is commonly known as "dui dhunga beech ko tarul(yam between two giant rocks)". People have migrated into Nepal in various groups in various time periods from various places including South Asia and Tibet. As a result Nepal enjoys a very diverse population with more than sixty ethnicities speaking a seventy plus languages. Although India went through various political changes including the the Mauryan Empire established by Chandragupta Maurya in Magadh, the Kushanas, the Gupta Empire, the Muslim Empires and the Western Colonization, Nepal remained an independent kingdom with strong ties to its neighbors.
Since time immemorial, Kathmandau Valley, the current capital of Nepal has been Nepal's political, economic, and cultural center. Kathmandau enjoyed this luxury because of its fertile soil and the trading route between India and China via the Himalayas.
