Usually janajaati means peoples that are not Brahmins, Chhetris or Newars the most higher castes in Nepal. Usually a janajaati is unrepresesented in every arena of Nepal. However, this scenario is changing slowly

King Prithvi Narayan Shah said, "Nepal is a common garden of four barnas and thirtysix jaatis." But now we know that the diversity of Nepalis is not only limited to the four barnas and thirtysix jaatis but there are more than seventy ethnic peoples in Nepal who speak more than seventy languages. The ethnography of Nepal can be divided into three divisions: Himali, Pahadi, and Teraili.
